Hi all!
For this campaign i decided to work out the Verlinden's 120mm Roman dromedarius.

I have purchased this figure many years ago and was thinking how to convert this static figure to the dynamic one.
The idea came when I saw the Touareg warrior issued by Romeo Models. This Running camel will be the visual reference for my conversion.

Here are the pics of the beginning:

(note from editor: now it should work for you - Andrzej)

Well I was finally able to get in some time on my project for this campaign.

Saddle Breaking Campaign

Saddle Breaking Campaign

I still have a lot of work ahead of me but I wanted to show my progress thus far. I still need to add the figure's war paint to his face. I need to finish up decorating his war shirt, moccasins, and headdress as well as adding ammunition to his captured pistol belt. I also have to finish up all of his weapons as well as adding reins to the bridle on the horse as well as adding the war paint to the horse. Plenty to do but I am getting there and should be done well before the deadline. Sorry for the poor picture quality.

Thank you,
Randy

Lookin good Randy! I've finally been able to start myself. Nothing fancy, just a DML Florian Geyer soldier. ...to replace one that an old roomate's dog ate. Hopefully this one looks better than the first!

This is gonna take some putty...

Lookin good Randy!

Thank you Steve, I appreciate the kind comment. I need to get busy and get some more work done on it. I had to put it aside for awhile to do some book review work for Osprey Publishing. I should be able to get back at it soon.

Thanks,
Randy

Randy, very nice work so far! I do like your Native American themed projects!

Steve, please let me know how was the fit between the saddle and the horse in this DML kit.

Thank you Andrzej. As always I appreciate the kind comments. I am anxious to do more work on my project. I have a lot to do but it is mostly little things so it shouldn't take too long. I hope to have another in-progress photo to share soon.

Thank you,
Randy

Figure painting is an area in which I need to improve, so here I am. I've had this in my stash (handed down from my dad's stash, probably ordered new in the 1960's). The Borax 20 Mule Team. I won't attempt the whole thing here at once, but at least the driver on his mule for this campaign.
Driver and wagons
This kit was offered by the Boraxo marketing department like 50 years ago, but new copies can be bought to this day at a 20 Mule Team Model website. I checked e-bay for the current price before delving further into this potential museum piece, but the price hadn't appreciated much, and mine has been tinkered with and partly assembled here and there.
Drivers place
All 20 mules
This morning, I sprayed all of the mules, assembly-line-fashion, so that they'd match each other whenever I DID get around to assembling the whole works, and primed the driver.
More pics soon!

thanks for looking,
Sean

Wow Amazing project!
I hoped you are going to paint all 20 mules so then I could tell you that mules are not allowed in this campaign but since you want to paint only the one with the rider my joke wouldn't have proper impact
I'm looking forward to seeing your progress.

Good one, Andrzej. I only sprayed them all, but I do intend to at least roughly paint them each to match, so there was a little panic when I read your post.
thanks for that little scare!

Thanks Nicolas & Andrzej,
You are right, the dynamism is what I wanted to achieve in this work, as the static dromedarius I have already in my collection.
This is 75mm figure by Autor Sculpt slightly converted to the relaxed pose I worked out few years ago.

I will start a 1/35 fantastic or archeological mounted in a few days. A "Triceratop Rider". My last victim from Airfix Dino set, a Triceratop and Tamiya's Afrikakorps wireless operator. I hope I finish at time and you like it.

Mind if I ask who makes that Union cavalry figure? What scale is he?

Thanks.

Getting close! It took some time to find photo-etch rings in the spare bin, and I bent some thin metal wire into "S" hooks for the bridle. Should be done in a day or two.

I wish the saddlebag would sit more naturally.

Great looking figure Marcin! Congratulations! You've done great job with his equipment.
I must say that M-Model figures improved in time, their latest releases are much nicer than the early ones. Especially horses look much much better.

Andrzej, In this kit the saddles fit onto the horses just fine. The figures and the saddlebags could fit better.
